ALETA Aces VBC News
The ALETA Aces Volleyball Club is starting their 8th season in the Athens area. We have worked very hard to increase participation in volleyball over the last several years. We have achieved those goals and are looking to meet new challenges, as volleyball has become a more serious sport for area athletes. The game of volleyball itself has changed tremendously over the last seven years.
We believe that volleyball is a game of position specific training. Serious players that want to achieve high-levels of play should have the opportunity to get the training necessary to reach their individual potential. Unfortunately, there is not enough high-level training in this area. We are determined to provide the absolute best training available. Young athletes need to be taught the correct way to pass, hit, set, dig, transition, communicate, and play the game we love. Too often the athletes are told to play rather than taught to play. We want to change that!
It is our plan to field only one team in each division, work to develop the athletes that are willing to put the time and energy into practice. We are also planning on some developmental programs and work classes that will specialize in specific skill sets.
We are excited about teaching volleyball and watching these young people grow into over-achievers. Hard work, commitment and teamwork will always be a part of success in any walk of life. Volleyball is a great tool to teach these necessary life skills. If you are a serious and committed athlete, we would love to have you participate in our upcoming tryouts.
